La semana pasada recibí un correo que hoy se pone de máxima actualidad después de que S&P haya rebajado dos escalones la deuda Española.... y justo el mismo día en que Europa señalaba casi con nombres y apellidos a Bankia como el gran problema en nuestro sistema financiero. Parece como si los Mercados se dolieran de la campaña recién empezada contra las agencias de calificación http://www.stopratingagencies.eu/es/ y en respuesta emprendieran un ataque sobre el que creen ahora el eslabón débil de la Unión Europea a romper. Que poco conocen a los Españoles y lo mucho que hemos aguantado en toda nuestra historia; precisamente hoy en el 75 aniversario del bombardeo de Guernica con el que Hitler y Mussolini mostraron hasta donde podía llegar su apoyo a su aliado el General Franco, avisando al mismo tiempo al resto del mundo de lo que se podía venir encima.

Y todo esto justo cuando llego al capítulo de El Casino que nos Gobierna de Juan Hernandez Vigueras, en el que se habla de las agencias de calificación y sus relaciones nada imparciales con los agentes más activos del mercado especulativo global. Demasiadas coincidencias en una semana que empecé con una curiosa y puede que efectiva actuación en favor del Impuesto a las Transacciones Financieras, el fin de los Paraísos Fiscales y la regulación del mercado financiero especulativo global... como a algun@s ya os he contado o contaré.

The debate on the EU-Financial Transaction Tax has not developed to our satisfaction. Still our fight for a regulation of financial markets is more important than ever. Today we would first of all like to thank you for your support in our campaign. Secondly, we would also like to draw your attention to our new initiative www.stopratingagencies.eu – for a proper regulation of financial markets also needs your support in other causes.
Credit Rating Agencies have been major and powerful players on the financial markets. In rating both states and companies with no transparency and no accountability, Credit Rating Agencies have been fanning the flames of both the financial crisis and the sovereign debt crisis. EU-member-states' budget consolidation programmes have been severely influenced by Rating Agencies' decisions – without any democratic control or responsibility of the latter.
We are convinced that ratings need to be regulated and that rating agencies need to be tamed. They need to be controlled and first and foremost there must not be any place for rating agencies' opinions in European and national law.
The European Commission has presented a legislative proposal on the regulation of rating agencies this winter, which tackles a number of problems but still does not go far enough. Representatives of the financial industry have already made their position clear and will be trying to further soften the proposal.
